My name is Yasmeen Thantrey and my practice is centred on identity and South Asian culture, exploring my place as a second-generation immigrant woman and the diasporic and personal effects on my identity. An important part of my work is my body; being a fat, brown woman acts as a socio-political statement. My Pakistani and Islamic heritage intertwines with the work involving my body, giving my themes a greater cross-cultural weight.
